What does it look like to thrive in a season of uncertainty? How do you follow the path God has for you as a friend, colleague, leader, or mother when you’re pulled in more directions than you can count? When circumstances leave us tired and discouraged, what would it be like to feel…resilient?
In partnership with the Denver Institute for Faith & Work, the Center for Faith + Work Los Angeles invites you to join us for Resilient: Women, Work, & Calling 2020. Hear from women who are leading with significance in a variety of roles, from the corporate world to politics, culture, and the home. Sharpen your vision for the ways God is using you in your own areas of influence. And learn what it takes to develop resilience as a beloved daughter of Christ.

MAIN EVENT SPEAKERS
KEYNOTE: Bethany Jenkins
Scripture envisions women as vital players in God’s story of redemption, but it can be difficult to translate that portrayal to modern life. We may struggle to make our voices heard, feel pulled between various roles, or see circumstances change, delaying our plans. Bethany Jenkins, vice president of media at Veritas Forum, will open our day exploring a biblical vision for women’s influence and sharing principles of resilient leadership. Led by Bethany Jenkins.
WORKSHOP - With: Experiencing God through our Callings
“I am with you always…” Jesus’ final words to his disciples in Matthew 28 reminds us that God promises to be with us at every step on our vocational journey–a contrast to the loneliness many women experience in their daily work. What if you could experience Christ’s presence, strength, and grace at any moment, nourishing your heart and shaping the way you work? Mindy Caliguire, a seasoned corporate leader and nationally known expert in spiritual formation, will offer principles to help you experience life with Christ through your callings. Led by Mindy Caliguire.
PANEL DISCUSSION: Leading with Grit, Resilience, and Love
What do a political strategist, documentary filmmaker, academic, and nonprofit executive have in common? On the surface, not much, but dig deeper and you’ll find a shared vision of living for God and loving others through their callings. In this panel discussion, we’ll explore the challenges of leading as a woman in male-dominated industries, how faith informs the substance of their work, and how they’ve recovered from professional setbacks. Led by Blythe Scott, Grace Chiang Nicolette, Heather Thompson Day, and Mary Beth Minnis.
EXECUTIVE INTERVIEW: Nancy Duarte
Nancy Duarte believes that ideas are the most powerful tools people have. Her passion is to help every person learn to communicate their world-changing idea effectively. Her TED talk on storytelling has captured a global audience of more than 2.5 million viewers eager to learn from her expertise. But few viewers know that Nancy is a woman whose faith infuses every aspect of her life and leadership. We’ll explore how Nancy and her husband, Mark, weave Christian principles into a spiritually diverse organization, how they’ve survived economic downturns, and how she found her voice as a female leader. Led by Nancy Duarte and Joanna Meyer.
Weekly Webinars Following WWC!
After the main event, join us for weekly webinars where we’ll explore questions around motherhood, entrepreneurship, and navigating a two-career marriage. Registration for Women, Work, & Calling 2020 includes access to the main event on Oct. 24 and all three webinars; each webinar will be recorded and available for replay at a later date.
WEBINAR PRESENTERS
WEBINAR: Navigating a 2-Career Marriage / Wednesday, Oct 28, 11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. (PT)
Nearly half of marriages in the U.S. are composed of dual-career couples. While dual-career marriages allow both partners to pursue diverse callings, they bring unique pressures and trade-offs, especially during a pandemic. Negotiating whose career takes prominence at any given time, juggling schedules, and managing household responsibilities can test even the strongest marriage. How can couples navigate these pressures and regain the biblical vision of partnering as a “blessed alliance?” This honest conversation with 2-career couples will offer insight, encouragement, and practical tools to strengthen your partnership. Led by Brian Gray, Kelley Gray, Jesse Marble, Kate Marble, and Hillary Masell Oswald.
